Sky Blue Pink With A Heavenly Border (#631)

(Just a short reminiscence; no pictures, except for those you create in your mind 🙂

Sky blue pink with a heavenly border ~ that is what my Dad used to say when I would ask him his favorite color.  Mom would just smile, shake her head and sigh.  I would feel completely clueless.

So then, I would ask, What color is that?   Big grin, followed by,  Just wait, one day you will see it.  Then you will know what I mean.

Well, it took several years and then some but finally one very early morning, I was driving my car after a major snowstorm.  There it was, right in front of me.  The sky was a mixture of blues and pinks with a border of heavenly fluffy white clouds.  It was a wonderful “aha moment.”

What made me think of that memory today?  Well, I will tell you.

This morning I was driving back to Interstate 40 through the town of Conway, Arkansas  and what’s coming toward me but a beautiful pink sanitation truck.

It reminded me of my Dad and how he could make words paint a picture so strong in my mind that I cherished it there until I saw it in reality.

Oh my Anne, What a wonderful story. I can just visualize it myself. It is so strange that my dad used to say the same thing. How odd. And the things you remember as a child pop up in your mind almost without reason. My Grand mother used to say …”my personal favorite is, sky blue pink with purple polka dots”. They both could always make me laugh. Thanks for the memory.

What a beautiful memory! We take so much of our parents with us in our life’s journey, including some exquisite pearls of perfection like this one. Happy travels, dear friend.
