First Sunset (#609)

My first sunset on the California Coastal Trail ~

first1

Just 5 miles north of my present home at Caspar Beach is Fort Bragg, California.  A very cool transformation is taking place there.

The headlands following the coast throughout the town are going native……rather, going back to being native and now, part of the California Coastal Trail.

Once the land was free.  Pomo Indians lived there.  Then it became a containment reservation for Native Americans.  A  huge lumber milling corporation took over the land next; putting in paved roads and sawmills and storage yards.

Today, most of the paved roads have been torn away.  Native plants, trees and flowers are once again flourishing.

Most important, people come every day to enjoy the beauty and serenity of this restored and storied place.
