A Month Of Sundays: Day 25 (#553)

My travels today took me 120 miles south to Bandon, an adorable little town on the coast of southern Oregon.  I am staying overnight at Robin’s Nest RV Park owned by a very gracious lady named Joy.

As soon as the RV was parked and the car untethered, I drove down Bay Loop Road to the beach at Face Rock for good long walk.  With so much rain over the past several days, my feet were having a strong case of wanderlust.

Descending a long staircase to the beach, I was able to walk a couple of miles before I saw rain clouds close to shore.  Fortunately, I made it back to the car just as the sky opened up.

Once I drove to the old town section of Bandon with it’s wonderful boardwalk and pier the rain had stopped so I got out to walk some more, determined to get in at least 10,000 steps for the day.

Hand carved wooden sculptures lined the walkways.  I became so mesmerized by the beauty and detail of the artwork that I failed to see the storm clouds overhead.

A sudden downpour had me running to my car a couple blocks away.  Dripping wet and chilled to the bone, I threw off my jacket and turned the car heater on high.  Luckily, I use my car as a giant suitcase where among other things I keep extra jackets.

After 10 minutes, the skies cleared and I was back on the pier discovering more sculptures.  And, yay, I went over my daily step goal.

Back home a shot of Grand Marnier made me forget the chill and a slice of homemade shepherd’s pie (from Mother’s Grocery store) warmed me even more.
