Finally! Today was my last day working at Amazon as part of CamperForce 2012. An hour before my shift ended I went with my group to a release-from-work meeting, filled out a short questionnaire, received a bag of Ghirardelli chocolates, got congratulated and thanked on a job well done. Not too long; not too short. Just right.
Now I am free. Free from waking at 4:30AM. Free from wearing a bright orange safety vest. Free from wearing an ID badge. Free from pushing a cart, carrying a scanner, picking products and lifting totes for 10 hours a day. Free from having to walk 10+ miles a day mostly on a concrete floor. I know my body will eventually forgive me. My mind….that’s another story.
In the past 4 months I have been honored to meet and work with some of the kindest and most generous people I have ever met. They have brought humor, encouragement and comfort into my life when I most needed them.
Of course, I still hear my Jillian Michaels specter ( the one that lived in my scanner) saying: Unless you puke, faint, or die; keep going!
That was it right there: persistence and determination. Sheer will!
I am so very grateful to all of you, my family and friends for your constant support. Throughout the long days I thought of you all!
So…. I did it! I’m done! It’s over!
And now I am going to bed!
