Living in so many different places across this country I have come to rely on the comforts of modern technology to keep me connected to family and friends. My cell phone and computer are lifelines to dear ones and a growing community of fellow travelers.
Whether I’m a couple hundred or a couple thousand miles away I want that connection. I realized that when I arrived at the cliff dwellings to check on my volunteer position and found that I’d have to sever that connection for the 3 months I’d be there.
It was a fearsome revelation. One that led to my new job at Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge in San Antonio, New Mexico.
150 miles on down the road in my home on wheels and I was there!
I awoke this morning, my first day here at the Bosque, to the song of red-winged blackbirds as the sun rose over the wildlife refuge just outside my door.
As I drove through the refuge I found the most beautiful place to be for the wildlife and me.
I believe in serendipity! I believe in magic! I believe in the power of the positive!
See you on down the road!
